After several days of floundering about on my novel, writing sentences to nowhere and being frustrated to no end, I've finally found the the fun my character and her story. yay! I'm just past 6,400 words now, which means I'm really behind. But I've rediscovered my direction. I think I can make it.

Oh, and after a long period of trying, giving up for a month or two, and trying again, I finally beat Leon and Yuffie in the Pegasus Cup tournament. Yes, I am that sad. But I will finish this game with no guides! Besides, I need to finish this in order to move on to Soul Calibur III. Because SC IV is coming out and The Force is with this one./

One line from my novel: "You know, your grandparents are great. They hug everyone. Why did you treat them like that? Hugs before hos, dude."

haha!

You're writing a novel?

I'm so very impressed.

Yeah, I'm trying to do the National Novel Writing Month thing, but time-shifting it to January instead of crazy November. I did it once before, in July 2006. That novel was only 47,500 words (below the target of 50,000+), but I COULD NOT WRITE ANY MORE.

Thanks. It's an insane endeavor, but I have so many ideas in my head that I really need to see at least some of them finish the first draft phase.

Publishing? I don't know.

Uhhh, I fail so bad. I can't even post a reply in the right spot. Let's try again...

I would love to read it when you're done!! I'm an English major and am qualified to teach English, but haven't taught the subject since I left uni. I really miss reading unpublished work, although I'm sure yours is a little more interesting than a 14-year-old's, hahahaha.

What genre is it? If you don't mind giving it away...

nah, it's okay...

haa, my stuff is strange. The first novel was a prequel to this TV show idea I've been developing since I was 13. It was about people trying to get by in the "city of the future." It starts out with the mother of a CEO hiring a private investigator to look into her son's illicit deals. Somehow it turned into three intertwining narratives: the first of the investigator and his family, the second of the CEO and his messed up life, and the third about two guys in a gang that's sometimes hired by the company for dirty work. There are courtroom scenes, and I know very little about the technical aspects of law...yeah, I don't even know if I want to show that one. The plot's messed up, but I like some of the scenes and how the characters developed. I think it's just a good basis for that TV show, if I ever get to make it...

The one I'm writing now is about a vagabond superhero, traveling the US, saving people. (hey, I just realized the Supernatural parallels. At this moment. wow.) I won't say if she has powers. It's a much simpler idea, although with less characters it's actually harder to find something to write. Thus the floundering about mentioned in my post. I think I might show this one to people. Might even consider getting it published.

What's really random: the first one was inspired by a scene I saw in Smallville of all things, while the one I'm working on is inspired by an imaginary character my head came up with for Heroes.

Wow.

That seriously sounds awesome. My mind could never come up with something so imaginative. I really like the sound of the first one! All the intertwining narratives make it sound perfect for TV. You are totally JJ Abrams or something, LOL.

And I LOVE that your novels are inspired by TV!! All those people who say it stifles creativity and is a blight upon society blah blah blah should shut up.

aww...shucks...

yeah, TV's just another medium for art/entertainment. There are good novels and bad novels, good shows and bad shows. It's the work itself that should matter, not the medium.

My novel's about an 18-year-old traveling the US, trying to stop crime and save lives. Vagabond superhero.

I'm alright, more or less. I hope you're doing well!
