Thanks to everyone who has already submitted questions to the character question meme. If you haven't, what are you waiting for? I NEED EVEN MORE CRACK

oh my gosh. haha. whoa.

Cowboy Bebop with Keanu Reeves is set to go
:(

also, that trailer in the article cannot get across the cool of this show. The title sequence does a much better job.

Empire's list of 23 buzz films at Sundance
[livejournal.com profile] nekare, it has Rudo y Cursi
[livejournal.com profile] orangecrackers, it has 500 Days of Summer
[livejournal.com profile] greenet, it has Dead Snow
[livejournal.com profile] claennis, it has that movie.
Also includes a movie directed by John Krasinski, and another movie based on a Nick Hornby novel and starring Peter Sarsgaard and Emma Thompson.

The 1000 Greatest Movies
based on 1,825 critics/reviewers' and filmmakers' top-10 lists, culled from many sources. Additionally, we have also factored in over 900 magazine polls, film institute polls, and many other polls of interest. The net effect of all our fine-tuning over the last twelve months is that a total of 96 films have debuted or re-entered our list and, of course, 96 films have dropped out.
Criticism of the list

Some movies I tried and didn’t bother finishing (maybe one day, Robert Bresson) or didn't have time to finish.
There are two movies on these lists I will never watch: Salo and Irreversible. I just don't think I can stomach them. This is coming from someone who's watched Cannibal Holocaust. I think the moralistic/exploitation/B-movie tone helped me get through that.

My progress on the list. 7 %!

They Shoot Pictures, Don't They? also compiled this list of the 21st century’s most acclaimed films
I've watched 16 %!
the criteria

There's also 250 quintessential noir films, of which I've watched 4%.

Some months earlier, I posted a link about how Ricky Gervais was going to write and direct a movie about a world in which no lies are told...until now.
This Side of the Truth is in post-production now, and the cast list is crazy:
Jennifer Garner, Jonah Hill, Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Patrick Stewart, Rob Lowe, Christopher Guest, Jeffrey Tambor, Fionnula Flanagan, Stephen Merchant (!!!yay!!1), and even Jimmi Simpson (Liam McPoyle on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Lyle the Intern on David Letterman, and a small but important role in Zodiac, among other things)

Thanks for the links! I want to see Rudo Y Cursi. Bernal & Luna! Love. You are sad about Cowboy Bebop and Keanu Reeves. I remember talking about this but my memory fails. Who did you want to be in it or how did you want it to be since you like the anime.

well, I could see Keanu Reeves in the movie, maybe as the white-haired rival guy (Knives), but not as Spike. Spike does have a quiet side to him, but it's a more romantic, alternately haunted and bemused quiet. I've always thought Michael Vartan from Alias would make a great Spike, but that was a longshot even then...

I have the feeling that Cowboy Bebop adaptation will hurt my soul. ;___; Keanu Reeves won't ever by Spike, damnit.

Mmm, Rudo y Cursi was fun, but Sundance material? Not quite.

What is this (dude, it took me so long to type properly gibber gabber) shit about rl!Cowboy Bebop that would make my brain bawl tears of hurt and pain? I feel like a bundle of rage like King Lear, but not as old. D:

one of my friends at berkeley will be vamanosing to Mormon land pretty soon; I think she's checking out JGL and ZD in 500 Days of Summer

Lol, that movie; okay I got what you were implying (watched the trailer and guffawed at how Morris could possibly gotten into jail being so "delicate" though that's probably not the right word). I still think I'll watch it though I'm not going to pay money for it; no siree bob.

Hey did you hear about Chandni Chowk to China, which is probably a mess of a kungfu meets bollywood showdown exploding across the screen? But I can't say no to people dancing in the Forbidden Palace...what is wrong with me. D:

BSG TONIGHT.

Oooooh I want to see A LOT of those Sundance Movies.

Irreversible was really hard to watch Oo

I saw a 1001 quintessential Movies list the other day and it depressed me. I'm doing good with the ones that were made after I, well.. started watching movies :D But I am sooo bad with older movies.

lol comment subject title

yeah, some of them sound really good...I hope that all the good ones get a distributor

I probably won't ever finish the list, because some movies just aren't that interesting to me. But if you want recs for older movies, I can try...for example, Quentin Tarantino gets a lot of dialogue pace ideas from 30's-40's screwball comedies, so you might want to try some of those...

I hope so too, they sound really intriguing.

Ooh yes, I'd love some recs! :) I really want to see older movies too, I just never know where to start.

some older stuff you might be interested in:

screwball comedy: Bringing Up Baby (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0029947/)

early Hitchcock English comedy-thriller: The Lady Vanishes (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0030341/)

drama about a little boy caught up in adult affairs: The Fallen Idol (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0040338/)

if you're interested in film noir, I can rec some stuff too. The icon here's from a French movie, Le Samourai, but I'm not sure if it's too quiet for your tastes.
