3,2,1, let's go

An earthquake woke me up today.

While it was 4.1, it wasn't long enough to make me get out of bed. So I just waited for aftershocks, rested a little, then took a long sleepy time getting up for breakfast.

Such is life in California.

yeah, it was a bit weird, but it wasn't too long or strong so it was okay. Didn't seem to dislodge any pipes or cords or anything.

Glad to hear everything's alright though. I know earth quakes are quite common in your area but still <3

aww thank you :)

[identity profile] justbolognese.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
holy fuck. I would freak out so much if I were woken up by an earthquake

[identity profile] chrryblssmninja.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
it wasn't too bad. You can't freak out about every quake here in California; just wait if there's aftershocks. What was really freaky was a when I was in a library during a longer quake a few years ago - the bookshelves were swaying! But I got under a table as fast as I could and rode it out. Nothing fell, so it was all good.

I'm a bad Californian. I just stood there, wondering why everything was shaking. By the time I convinced my brain that yes, I'm finally feeling an earthquake, it was over. Last earthquake, I was driving and missed it all.
Later, my mom called and asked if everything was alright, although she's at an elementary school and probably had the whole drill.

Nothing knocked over, not even my action figures that get regularly knocked down when I close the drawers too hard. The door shook though! I hang my playpus bottle there and it shook, which convinced me that no, someone wasn't stomping around.

it takes you by surprise, and it was a bit too short to really register until it was done.

Nothing fell over here.

Earthquakes scare me, even if they aren't strong.
-_-;;;

I guess I'm so Californian that I wait a little to judge if a quake's worthy of worry or not. I know all the drills for outside and inside, don't worry.

Here we don't have a lot. I guess this makes them more scary.

It's a film with so many great scenes :) Just the part about the cuckoo clock always irritates me a bit.

Just the part about the cuckoo clock always irritates me a bit.

hee, I think I know why. It's quite unfair.

It's not even an invention made in Switzerland *g*

[identity profile] chuckney.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Goodness. I hope it didn't damage anything and everyone's okay.

[identity profile] chrryblssmninja.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
nothing fell or was dislodged, and everyone's fine, so it's alright

[identity profile] chuckney.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
How often do you get earthquakes like that, big enough to feel?

[identity profile] chrryblssmninja.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
once every few months or so. Better a bunch of little ones to relieve fault stress than one big one, although they can be warnings if extremely close together.

what're you supposed to do in bad ones? go under doorways?

[identity profile] chrryblssmninja.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)

it was just a little one, felt between San Francisco to San Jose.

yeah, you do get used to them. It's a good thing we had all those drills in school.

[identity profile] secret-weapon.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
Oh O_O

Looking up at the other comments I see this is very common and it was only a little earthquack but still...

O_o

[identity profile] chrryblssmninja.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry but from now on I might start calling mini-quakes "earthquacks"

but thanks dear

[identity profile] secret-weapon.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh Lord, I really have to start reading before I post *facepalm*

But that being said: LOL Earthquack

*sparkly Edward mocks me*
