STUBBORN NEAR-SUCCESSES IN COOKING

Fried ice cream. Recipe from here.

I used crackers for the "coating." I recommend you make more of the cinnamon-sugar-crumbs coating than they suggest.

Also, I found out in the process of cooking that it takes a lot of oil to deep-fry something. I couldn't coat and fry it 100% completely, thus the leak you see on the plate above. I had to find the smallest pot possible, and it still used up a lot of oil. At the end, it looked like this.

It tasted good.

Now I'm waiting for the Craigyferg Doctor Who special. Five more minutes!

Is it like~~ baked alaska style?
Crust with cold ice cream in the middle?
I am still fascinated that the ice cream doesn't fuck up completely *w*

pretty much, yes

I think the egg coating helps.

if I had been able to coat it perfectly and fry it better, there would have been no leak!

were you able to find a link to watch it? I know CBS puts Craig Ferguson's shows online

Yes, thank you! I watched it today and it was hilarious! It made me like Matt Smith a lot more. Not that I didn't like him, I just hadn't seen him interviewed much yet.

it's pretty easy if you make sure to coat the ball of ice cream completely and then dunk it in the frying oil completely

I've made turon twice. It's a Filipino dessert with saba, a type of plaintain, dipped in brown sugar, wrapped in eggroll wrapper, and fried. So I guess it's similar.

Nyom, I think I've had turon before! But it doesn't hurt to have it again of course!
