I've missed so many birthdays!

Happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] subtle__sarcasm, and Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] justbolognese!

Noirvember has taken over much of my free time. I even wrote a related book review here. Here is my "Criminal Chiaroscuro" list of movies. From my Noirvember watching, I especially enjoyed the Brit noirs They Made Me a Fugitive and Odd Man Out (James Mason with an Irish accent? whaaat). On the American side, I have a new addition to my favorite films:

Yeah the climax has similarities with one of my other favorite movies, High Noon (even the same director) but sheesh I was crying around the 2/3rds point at 4 AM- so late because it's tricky finding a link for this film.

Even the non-noir movies I watch in between noirs tend to stuck to the same '40's-'50's era. Maybe I don't feel like confronting a sustained movie-length version of the present right now.

I was also very addicted to playing Plants vs. Zombies until my recent discovery of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. Charlotte Lu is my favorite. Whoa boy do I eagerly await the next video on Thursday.

I did have a weird dream last night,
I was serving coffee at an outdoor stand in some commercial center area. I had finally mastered the art of putting whipped cream and caramel on the top of each drink, and I had even managed to create a smiley face on top of the last coffee I served.

and then, after work, my instinct told me that a zombie outbreak had begun. You could tell that human sounds were slowly becoming zombie sounds. Except these may not have been zombies, but "infected" with a desire to kill people. I started walking with one group, but in the night shadows I saw people setting up a tripwire between two trees. A few people noticed with me and we turned back quickly without talking.

The feeling in the air was tense but it seems they hadn't started any noticeable kills yet. I got a vague text from my mom about waiting for a call. I heard on one of the intercoms of passing guards that they suspected the situation started with coffee that wasn't properly heated.

So, while trying to keep calm and look for a safe place, I was feeling both guilt and panic. This, along with the (real life) sound of my mom walking and getting stuff near me, made me slowly become awake.
_ _ _
While waking up, I came up with a plan of hiding in the air vent of a public place. Before going up there, I'd get plastic bags, toilet rolls, any bottled drinks and preservable food (chocolate bars, etc.) and maybe sanitizer. I'd stay in the vents, cell phone usually off but when on, on vibrate, doing what exercises I can until any clearing patrol comes by. I'd have a note to pass them through the vents:

"I won't get out until you can ASSURE me that it is safe. If you lie, I'll stab you."

Seriously, I'd be peeing and pooing in plastic bags and cramped in an air vent for how many days, keeping sane by listening to one song a day on my cell phone. I will not die due to an unprepared rescue party.

I hope to post some cooking experiments in the next post.
