Adventure Time's "Simon and Marcy" episode gave me so many feeeeelings with the Cheers theme song and Simon's irrational insistence on the exclusive healing powers of chicken soup and Marceline and pink goo

In the Flesh got much better as the second episode let the "rehabilitated zombie (Partially Deceased Syndrome)" concept breathe and feel more natural with the drama. And now I have a ship! I wonder how the last episode in this three-episode series will tie everything together.

New pay-what-you-can comic book limited series The Private Eye:
Welcome to Panel Syndicate, where artist Marcos Martín and writer Brian K. Vaughan deliver original comics directly to readers around the world, who pay whatever the hell they want for each DRM-free issue. Our first new storyline is THE PRIVATE EYE, a forward-looking mystery we created with colorist Muntsa Vicente. Set in a future where privacy is considered a sacred right and everyone has a secret identity, The Private Eye is a serialized sci-fi detective story for mature readers. You can download our 32-page first issue right now, for any price you think is fair. 100% of your payments go directly into our greedy mitts and will help fund the rest of a story that we're both very proud of (we hope there will be around 10 issues total; an old-school "maxiseries!"), so thanks for reading...
The first issue is already here.
Immediate download of 32-page comicbook in your choice of PDF, CBR or CBZ.
No DRM, no encryption, just plain files optimised for on-screen reading. Available in English, Spanish & Catalan.

It's got a future-noirish feel. I wish I could actually pay them something.

So now I have a Tim Howard icon. Got it from [livejournal.com profile] streetlightsss. The keyword is "howardmyhero."

I also now have Psylocke (my favorite blonde superhero turned suddenly Asian purple-haired ninja) as my default, and Miroslav Klose doing some weird arm thing in another icon. I uh kind of choked up when he was subbed off...just something about the image of him walking off the pitch really got to me

I've been v v busy lately. But at least we get to watch World Cup games at Work 1 while we work. yesss
Also, my video skills might help me get more paid hours there than I might have recieved. I'm waiting on word about the project, but yayyy my other skills being handy
I listen to the other games on the radio while driving to Work 2, and then I put the live updates on the computer while I'm working, because I don't want to mess up their connection with video.
I'm still looking for secure full-time positions, though.

Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] teaglass (I haven't seen you around, but maybe G can tell you I said hi?) and dear cookie [livejournal.com profile] hellopinkie!

And welcome to all my new LJ friends! I'm the weirdo with a Peter Lorre tag who likes busting open double doors and walking off into the sunset.

uhh....random music.

"Tell 'Em" - Sleigh Bells - I have no idea why I like this song. It's some weird breathy peppy pop song but with loud guitar and cool burst what percussion and street dance background. Free and legal mp3 from Rcrdlbl.

"Il Cielo In Una Stanza" and "Ore D'Amore" as sung by Mike Patton. Classic Italian pop songs, recorded today. I heard lots of praise for this album, and after listening to it, the thing weirds me out. It sounds all retro but then the sound is slick and there are little things thrown in here and there. I don't even know much Italian pop what is this

"Sadie Hawkins" - Doomtree. Hot and cool.

MUSIC GO MUSIC

newest addition to my favorite bands!

They're...ummm...the new indie ABBA!
with a touch of Black Mountain on a few tracks.

I've posted some of these links before, but

COMPLETE LIST OF FREE MUSIC GO MUSIC TRACKS

"Light of Love"
aww cute fun happy bright!

"Reach Out"
EPIC BATTLE MUSIC

their RCRDLBL page
has the pretty "Warm in the Shadows" and the great melody "A Thousand Crazy Nights"

their Myspace

and they record different versions of songs for their fake 70's music show videos!

yay for pop music!
chrryblssmninja: (wicked_signs_merlin)
some music for you all

for those who want a new disco track:
Music Go Music's "Warm in the Shadows"
It's over 9 minutes and I'm dancing to it all!
really, they're like the dreamy indie ABBA with some hints and song lengths of Black Mountain

for a more folk song with a subtle electronic feel, here'sthe Thomas Bullock remix of "Bones" by A Mountain of One

in case you haven't seen it yet: Buraka Som Sistema's Blood Diamond mixtape
one of the best, most well-though-out pro mixtapes I've heard. I actually find this better and more cohesive than BSS's actual album.

another electronic dance music mixtape for you, this time with more cumbia:
Toy Selectah's Mex More Lp
I think Toy Selectah just lost his mind. Here’s pretty much everything you need to start your own Tropical party. There’s some club music, some reggaeton, some cumbia, some rock remixes, plus Justice, Chromeo and Boyz Noise Remixes and it’s Free! Be on the look out for Toy Selectah’s upcoming releases on Mad Decent and Bersa Discos.

can't watch the video right now, but this is the music video for one of my favorite tracks on P.O.S.'s Never Better

Inspirational/exercise endurance song of the year for me.

finally, I like how this song reminds me of a sea shanty, for some reason

I know a number of my flisters like Sondre Lerche, so I'm passing on this link I saw in a comm:

Sondre Lerche tweeted this link himself, and Brooklyn Vegan's a legit site, so I think it's pretty legal:

“Reverb Nation free music giveaway. Yes, all free. 1,000+ MP3’s. http://www.reverbnation.com/windows

so far, I'm liking Zombina and the Skeletones - "That Doll Tried to Kill Me"
chrryblssmninja: (blacklily28_bearcaptainschair)
After first hearng this song, I kept on wanting to break into spontaneous dance. Everywhere. For two or three days. You should have seen the weird stepping thing I was doing in Macy's.

It's no work of art, but sheesh that beat is insane.

now, the song has a video. an animated video. With vampires and action figures. It's okay, not quite as awesome as it could be.

Download Major Lazer's "Hold the Line (feat. Mr. Lexx and Santigold) here.

Finally. I am done with the two papers.

I stopped flisting around Sunday, and I only let myself get distracted by music and [livejournal.com profile] ontd_lost. So if you posted anything you want me to see, leave a comment here.

I went and found some nu cumbia music to accompany my frantic typing.
You can get some good free tracks from the Bay to Buenos Aires label here and here (I recommend "Mundo Querido" from that last one) and free mixtapes from the Buenos Aires club Zizek.

After delivering my papers, we went to that food court place in Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto area. Got some good chocolate at Alegio, and the guy at the counter let us taste these cool specialty chocolate covered sweets from Barcelona. aha I found it Enric Rovira. This little shop is the only place that sells these chocolate in the United States. We had to guess what ingredient was covered by the chocolate. I guessed the third one right - peppercorn, although I didn't know it was pink peppercorn. Really odd things, but they tasted good anyway.

now all I have is internship stuff and a poetry reading. Phew.

Let's get the sad news out first: Rescuers still hope for quake survivors in Italy

And wasn't Chuck great last night?

three non-SXSW tracks you may enjoy:

Ak Momo - “Women to Control”
Bubbly-voiced melancholy. There’s something special about the melody that overcomes the (to me) too girly-girlishness of the voice. download it for free here - hey, it was up on the Spinner blog for a while, so it counts…
Noah - “Mannequin (Overthrill remix)”
Oh so dancey wheeeeeeee
What Made Milwaukee Famous - three tracks from FreeIndie.com. I particularly like "Idecide," a cool rock-electro number.

doesn't this dance track sounds like it's blaring the sample of the horns from the last part of the Cowboy Bebop theme "Tank!"
