Turns out that my anthro paper and my anthro/linguistics paper are due next week, not this week.
-faints with relief-
the presentation went okay. Turns out it was a good thing I didn't write so much on the full paper, because the comments and suggestions gave me some better ideas on where to go in the report.
good thing I didn't catch any of the Arsenal/Man U game before that. :(
oh, and while I was working with my Environmental Sciences group in the International House cafe, one of the electronic displays of international newspapers had a picture of Diego. I can't read German, but I could figure out that it said something like "Bremen? Munich? Torino?" aww come on don't tell me he's leaving

Bundesliga: Bremen 4-0 Stuttgart
Yay Diego and Pizarro and Rosenberg! Aww Diego has to jump up to give his tiny hugs in the huddle
It is so weird seeing Jens for Stuttgart
This announcer pronounces Dusko Tosic’s first name like “Disco”
Number 4!!!!1 Rosenberg always finds the times when there are no defenders…and later on shows his temper when he gets a yellow
almost number 5 in the last minute
yay

Werder Bremen 1 - 0 FC Köln
lol Diego just scored a goal and then he did this weird wavy hand dance at the corner
and the Köln goalkeeper's name is magnificent: . F. Mondragón
I know we're far from the top, but at least we can try and aim for the middle of the table
ETA: Köln player touching Pasanen: "Bit of rugby styling on Petri Pasanen there"
ETA 2: #2 from Naldo!
ETA 3: Köln get 1
ETA 4: Awesome shot from Almeida
3 -1 now
and XD Almeida and Diego did this cute little cupping-the-ear thing that made them look like gremlins
aww Pizarro gripping the net after he missed
ETA 5: "Almeida appears to be wiping his nose on the top of Diego's head"

World disaster news:
Gustav destroys homes, sparks flooding in Cuba
Army helps as desperation mounts in flood-hit India
China quake kills 32, destroys 258,000 homes
It's been a busy weekend. I already mentioned that yesterday we went to Angel Island, followed by a gathering with family friends, where we watched Cal beat Michigan State yay. I wore my Arsenal shirt, and I later found out that they won, so yay!
We were late for the Oakland ferry our friends were taking, so we had to drive all the way into Tiburon to get the ferry there. It's a really nice seaside town. Really expensive to live there, but the place is nice. Actually, all of Marin County is very pretty. It's like Cape Cod or some other East Coast place, but with a less glitzy, more foggy, laid-back California vibe. The people who live right next to the ocean are pretty cool. But the stereotype of Marin County people being super rich, self-absorbed, annoying preppy people who try to sweep everything ultra-liberal more because it's the thing to do rather than what they truly believe? who take political correctness to extreme, 4th-place-medal levels of insanity? Yes, stereotypes aren't completely true, but those people with the mansions and expensive condos in the hills...maybe it's the fog. gets to them. Sci-fi novelist Philip K. Dick actually captured this group of people well in the 1956 (I think) non-sci-fi novel Confessions of a Crap Artist.
lol I don't have that much experience with Marin people. Just reporting the mindset, that's all.
anyways, Angel Island was fun. I took a bunch of pics with my phone camera. Now we need to find the proper cord for the thing...
While waiting in one area, I climbed this little side pass, or, more like crawl-climbed. Took a picture of a reddish giant rockface. But, when I tried to get down...
whoa, that path looks too slippery. I grabbed a tree branch quick. I had to come back the way I came, which was friendlier to tiny tiny feet of little kids rather than to just tiny feet of 20-yr-olds. Fortunately, I found a handy stick to help me get my balance when things were about to get rough.
I can't help it. I like exploring random things.
While on the tram tour of the island, we saw some deer. And then I got a call. It was for a CalTV assignment.
So, the next day, I was at the Slow Food Festival in San Francisco. I was at the only free, open event, the farmers' market in front of City Hall. I was there to tape a segment for a CalTV reporter. It smelled so good there...too bad stuff with filming and family got too busy. I wanted to try food. grr. Or at least get the really good dried fruit. I still have a fruit craving argh.
It was really packed. And hot. They need to open the aisles next time. Some random dude saw that I was using a fancy videocamera. He then asked me how to operate his friend's picture camera. Very odd.
What is Slow Food?
Disciples of the Slow Food movement rail against fast food, industrial farming and global distribution and embrace the idea of supporting local producers who use sustainable methods and pay fair wages to their workers. To spread the word, they invited some of the country's best chefs, most innovative artisan foodmakers and environmentally friendly farmers here to prove that eating the Slow Food way is a sensual pleasure that's good for the body as well as the soul.
Nectarines are in season now, I think. I want nectarines and peaches.
oh, and while I was reserving a book today at Borders, I saw the FIFA magazine with Diego on the cover. I bought it.
while we were shopping for new school clothes for my brother, I saw some of the Marc Ecko shirts the designer did for Star Wars. After seeing the Boba Fett shirt, my mind latched onto it and couldn't let go. So yes, I did have to ask someone to take the shirt off the half-mannequin, because that was the only Boba Fett shirt that wasn't extra large. My brother got the Darth Vader and stormtrooper ones, although he requested that I let him wear my shirt if he wants. shoot, I remember looking at the first Marc Ecko Star Wars designs like one or two years ago in the starwars.com newsletter, and thinking, "aww, if only they weren't online..."

Hannover 4 - 3 Bremen.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ALL THE STREAM LINKS (for both TVAnts AND Sopcast) ON THREE DIFFERENT SITES ARE BAD AND THE TEAM I GOT UP TO WATCH DOES NOT HAVE MY AWAKE SUPPORT.
YES.
But hey, Rosenberg scored twice, and Diego scored once. Small consolation.
And it doesn't sound as trainwreck!odd as Brian Wilson (yes, the Beach Boy) rapping
hey, a new song by Queen?
Death Cab's Ben Gibbard recorded a version of "Thriller!" That's a free MP3 there.
OHMYGOSH THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING WITH CELTIC AND EVEN THEIR LIVE RESULT PAGE IS NOT POPPING UP AND ALL I KNOW IS THAT THEY'RE LOSING 1-0
"The Weather Channel is more about music than MTV [is] these days."
and, from a while back, The Scrantones (Darryl and Creed!) covered Radiohead.
There's video of a young Creed there as well.
OH GOOD CELTIC TIED.

I watched Arsenal. 2-0. Tears of joy.
agh I have no tissues in my bed
I just use blanket
ROSA! -hugs-
I've accepted Gallas as our captain now. Great work, even if I was scared he'd get a red after brawling and shouting. please channel anger into play please
-carefully hugs Theo-
hee, the ones with the most interesting hair (Gallas with the golf-lawn mohawk, Tomas with his perfect hair that can withstand ANYTHING) scored today.
and seeing the fans stand up and Aleks Cesc Mathieu watching there and Robin in the tunnel...THIS IS MY CLUB!
and I followed the live scores for Bremen and 2-0 yay with Diego and Mosquera!
Klose and Franck! scored for Bayern. argh for Bayern's lead, yay for the players.
whee Celtic won 2-0 too! It's a Two Too day!
and Man U lost to Bolton. ;)
sorry.
and, for the non-soccer fans on my flist, I have some music items:
Belle and Sebastian, Franz Ferdinand, and Pete Doherty...writing musicals?
Carl Barât’s claiming he and Pete Doherty might collaborate on a musical comedy for the stage. Maybe Doherty is looking for someone to help him finish up the musical he was allegedly writing with Kate Moss.
Go Eight: A Crazy Worldwide Hannukah Party
Ooh LA’s got Balkan Beat Box and Dengue Fever
SF’s got Honeycut
and...BLUEGRASS KUNG FU CLOGGING!
ETA: Match pics!
aww no Theo
NO
But Rosa scores, and the moment is happy.
Bremen's two scorers today!
Ribery hands with van Bommel
Franck defies gravity
and a Kuyt-Gerrard hug from Liverpool's win.
Beckham mobbed by cute little Chinese ballerinas

Currently watching my brother play Bioshock.
Bioshock: an exquisite kind of madness.
So my US girls were playing at 5 AM. Bremen started at 6:30. Arsenal at 7.
My alarm clock rang at 5, but I was too tired...
Woke up at 9.
waaaaaaaaaaah
at least Friday was pretty cool, morning to nigh. And all my teams played great today.
Arsenal 5-0, goal videos
aww, I want to hug poor Theo. And high-fives to Ade and fantastic Fabregas!
US-England 3-0
Yaaaay US, although I heard that England as a whole played pretty well, and that it's more their goalkeeper's fault.
Oh, and there are the weird Nike ads with Rainn Wilson (Dwight from The Office!)
Germany - North Korea 3-0
Bremen beat Stuttgart 4-1
Goals: Almeida with 2, Sanogo (pass from Pasanen!), and Diego - who will now stay until 2011!
Mario Gomez is kind of cool, though.
What's with all these teams? Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool (good start to season though...maybe this is just an extremely off week?), and Stuttgart.
Aack all the links (more Mourinho, Heroes, soccer crossovers with The Smiths and Heroes, cute cats) I wanted to put in this post take up 3 pages of document space and would take so long to organize...
I've got a midterm on Monday anyway. Time to study (and watch Bioshock) and stuff. I'll probably get those links out later today.
Oh, and thank you SO MUCH to
croakvegas for introducing me to Summer Heights High. GO RIGHT NOW to her most excellent intro post. It's an Australian show about high school, and strangely enough it's a lot closer to my high school experience than any American TV show. Maybe because it's more about groups that are just there and not so much about OH MY GOSH HIERARCHY WARS. Oh, and the uncensored swearing.
Wait a minute - Chris Lilley plays all three main characters? wow shoot. I'm on the third episode and I didn't notice! wow shoot.
What's best is that ABC (Australian Broadcasting Company) has each episode up for free download each week.
I think Jonah Takalua is now one of my favorite TV characters. Reminds me a lot of some notorious troublemakers in junior high and high school. They were alright acquaintance dudes. -gets nostalgic-

I start commenting, then I go to my journal to look up something, and then I end up tag-rearranging for an hour. Yup. Chek owt mah funkeh tagz. Still a work in progress.
Oh: I saw an animated icon of Miro flipping in Bayern gear and my eyes got teary. Fortunately, this was when my eyes were dry and in need of moisture. How nice of my angst to do that.
But seriously. After some comment chat with some of my flist (especially
rebelstrike21 -hugs Iris tight-) I have gotten over most of my MiroDrama. It still hurts, but it was his decision and I really felt bad when I heard he was too injured to play in that game against England, and I think he just might still be my favorite player. Might. That’s still a bit muddy.
A late equalizer from hosts Hamburg denied Bayern a fourth straight win… Miroslav Klose's opener gave the Bavarian giants the lead after 70 minutes but three minutes from time Mohamed Zidan leveled things up at 1-1. The Egyptian thus became the first man to score against Ottmar Hitzfeld's side this season…
Hey, at least two former Bremen players scored!
Aack…I want to talk about Labor Day Weekend (and Tuesday), but so much happened that…I just start with Saturday. Because blogs foster egocentrism or something.
Saturday was awesome.
First, I got up early to watch Bremen vs. Frankfurt. My early wake-up time also allowed me to get up Mom for work. Really, waking up for streams is kind of improving my life.
( thoughts during the match )
Some links:
Diego twist-hits the ball! His Nike T-90 interview aack I keep on watching the yellow circle forming on the side
All goals from Bremen-Frankfurt, complete with the Gol TV commentary and THE DANCE!
While I was watching, the Emo!kitty was staring at me from the cushion in the patio.
Afterward, I watched Spike Jonze Spends Saturday with M.I.A. Seriously, I’ve been playing Kala over and over on my CD player and in my head.
From that site: Kala is a direct result of globalization, a direct result of mainstream pop, rap and rock, and without those influences it would have never been made; a scary thought indeed - that there might be an up-side to the down-sides of globalization.
Hee Spike Jonze’s voice. My favorite part…talks about preconceptions of Third World, and dances with teddy bear. Poor Shemko, though. It’s interesting when she also comments about party music just being about shaking your privates, and her loss of connection to “her people” after the first album came out.
After that, I divided my time between: surfing for more M.I.A., playing with Kerri the Cat through the screen door, and eating pancakes. More surfing, then I started exercising, playing Kala in the background. However, when it got to “Boyz,” I just had to stop and dance…
Then went to Marina to get some stuff my grandma asked for. Also checked out Daiso, the new Japanese discount store they’ve been raving about on
aroundfremont. It’s fantastic! For
claraious -since she’s off to Georgia on Friday- I got a crazy pencil pouch that’s decorated like a cracktastic bag of tortilla chips (Cheese-flavored! Goes great with chips and beer!), as well as a wrist rest. I also bought a small comb, tiny post-its for a friend, and “Children Pinch,” these tiny clothespins decorated as “brother,” “sister,” “dog,” “me.” I won’t take them out of the bag. They’re priceless the way they are right now. Got some tea at Tap Ex and went home.
Watched some more Aqua Teen S3 while cruising for more M.I.A stuff on the web. Did some homework too. Also saw some exciting bits of Cal vs. Tennessee (yay!) and read Sports J, the Japanese-language weekly periodical I picked up at Daiso. Good reading practice, yes. When I went into my room and turned on the radio, they were playing “Supermassive Black Hole!” So I sang along to that. And because of a Labor Day special on Live 105, it was followed by “Knights of Cydonia.” I sang and tapped and air-strummed to that one. With my radio, I can hear a bit of 105.7 if I touch a certain point of the stereo. So following my Muse sing-alongs, I danced merengue to Elvis Crespo’s “Sonrisa.” Me was happy.
Oh, and later on, on the dorama Furin Kazan, I ended up calling out to my dad: “Hey! It’s our alien cousin! Gackt!” My friend Mimi said he would be there sometime, playing Rurouni Kenshin or something. Well, I guess it’s the first time he’s shown up…he plays Nagao Kagetora, the son of some lord who sent him to the monastery because Kagetora-san was too vicious. But Kagetora’s brother brought him back to the family because brother was sickly. 4 years later (seriously, 5 years are covered in one episode), brother is dead, Kagetora takes power, and his sister begs him to make her marry their enemy cousin so there will be peace and Kagetora’s like NO. The character’s pretty cool; Gackt’s not the greatest actor, but he’s capable, and has an otherworldly presence that suits Kagetora. Oh, and eye patch-guy (the main character I saw in earlier eps) is still running around, causing trouble with gun shipments and stuff. And there’s more alliance-breaking. No wonder they put character names on screen- so many factions, so little time…

A capacity crowd came to see David Beckham play soccer and a fight broke out.
Beckham played the entire 90 minutes for the third time in six days, and was limping slightly near the end of the game in which he served as captain for the third consecutive match.
"He looked hobbled," Galaxy coach Frank Yallop said. "I used him tonight and I shouldn't have done that." …
A shoving match ensued between the teams, which Beckham quickly backed out of and circled around. Defender Alex Zotinca of Chivas USA head-butted Galaxy midfielder Kevin Harmse in the scrum, and Harmse threw a punch at Zotinca. Both received red cards.

And I've always liked Ribery. He was definitely Man of the Match.

I'm not angry at Bayern. I'm not angry with Bremen. Looks like it's going to be a tough year for us Bremen fans. But hey, we started losing last season (after a fantastic run) as 2007 began...maybe the reverse will happen in 2008?

So, I’ve finally watched the Official Cloverfield trailer. And while it looks spectacularly awesome, I will not get caught up in all the hype surrounding it. I will distance myself from the crazy, just as I did with Harry Potter. 1)because I just have a natural inclination to stay away from the things with tons of hype, like the iPhone and 2) I’ve got enough crazy as it is. But for those of you who are into it (it‘s even got my brother!), here’s some very important news, along with more information, from
cleolinda.
First heard about the business here. While people have been calling it a “Top secret J.J Abrams film,” he’s only a producer or something.
It's Drew Goddard (BUFFY/ANGEL/ALIAS/LOST) who is writing the film. He’s done some good stuff (The Spork!) and okay stuff, but I think he’ll do good here.
Stereogum discusses the vowel-less music in the trailer while Pop Candy found a possible Slurpee-Cloverfield connection
And, speaking of Slurpees:
jaune alerted me to Free Slurpees at 7-11 during 7/11
The new Seven Wonders of the World were announced by none other than Portugal’s favorite son, Cristiano Ronaldo. Yes. Well, Egypt’s not happy. No, not about C Ron.
Okay, so on to footie. Seems like I missed a crazy game, Brazil and Uruguay going into penalty. Although I did start jumping and shouting when I saw Diego score in the sports highlights. My parents saw me. Bit embarrassing.
Oh, and my random response to one of
rebelstrike21’s picspams: “oh my gosh BAYERN IS AN ALIEN SPECIES INFECTING PLAYERS WITH HANDBAGS.”
That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it.
More crazy…
This item popped up everywhere, but was first brought to my attention by
lamisantropa: Girl falls (out of the sky) for Messi.
In other crazy: Footballers who rap, and Moritz Volz’s Wimbledon quotes. I wonder if Volzy’s ever written a rap song…
Icons! Look at the Argentina icons here. There’s also Brazil, and Liverpool and other clubs…but wow slashy Albicelestes. And go pick up some great transfer angst icons like the one above.
Okay, so
logovo posted this machinma video called “Dance, Voldo, Dance.” Yes, it features Voldo, Soul Calibur’s resident “kinda scary... an asthmatic-sounding, bondage-gear-wearing, claw-wielding freak” fighting against himself.
I watched it. It was interesting.
( And then my Voldo interest returned full force. )
I am so weird.
To end this post: more on Spike’s visit to Torchwood. I’ve heard they finished filming his episode.
James Marsters interview.
And dude, check out the headline of this article.
Actually, I’d add “Like half the characters on the show…” to the start of that.
So many links, so little time. Hope you’re all doing fine!

It’s not extremely hot here, especially considering that last year my skin was sticking to my seat while I was watching the World Cup. But it hit 119 degrees F (44 C) in Palm Springs, and I heard that it reached 50 degrees C in Las Vegas. I like the Fahrenheit system. It’s much more dramatic.
Attention, all Runaways fans!
subtle_sarcasm has a request!
I can not get a hold of a download for the newest issue and I know it's been out since, like, may now or something and no one reads it so I'm basically begging anyone who likes comic at this point :D
Oh, and that reminds me. ( To all interested in Fables! )
On Tuesday, my brother and I watched the end of Doctor Who season 1 on TV, and then afterward they showed David Tennant in Casanova. While that was on, my brother and I watched “The Christmas Invasions,” and then I watched the first two eps of Torchwood on Youtube. TV Links only had the last three episodes up, so I watched them. I think I’m more or less caught up on the season. ( Torchwood thoughts )
But still, with Spike and Captain Jack on the same show, I really hope they have some kind of Battle! Of! The! Long! Overcoat!
Oh, and via [Bad username or site: rebel strike_21 @ livejournal.com]: John Barrowman is coming to Comic-Con! Ooh, that’s like in a week!
Oh my gosh my dad called me to see Diego talking in Spanish and I ran to the TV too late gaah gaah gaah gaah splorfl.
Oh, and via
greeniebach: An old but very good interview with
Íker Casillas. I just keep on liking that guy more and more. And I’ve read The Alchemist too!
And this short film has just freaked me out. I don’t know what is happening, but that stuff is super scary.
Via logovo: Supernatural 5-0!
Oh my gosh I used to watch Hawaii 5-0. It was on this “classic TV” afternoon program one summer on a local network. I think it aired after Bewitched or I Dream of Jeannie.
Just for comparison, The original Hawaii 5-0 credits. Hey, Jared Padalecki looks a bit like James MacArthur…
Ooh, I was planning more of a link post, but this has been going on too long. So, just a few more things…
I wonder if all the equipment involved in the production and broadcast of Live Earth is up to green standards. The Arctic Monkeys agree with me . =) But I find it kind of cool that Antarctica will be represented by a band of scientists. I heard an interview with them on the radio- they’re nice guys and their music’s not horrible.
Semi-related: Green nightclub to get energy from dancers
Finally, the
aroundfremont comm is looking for more members. The comm has alerted me to various things like crimes committed in the area or good stores and restaurants to try. So if you live in or around Fremont, CA, go check it out!

That’s right. We’ve got everything from Copa América to U-21 to Beckham playing with pigskin, Isaac Mendez back alive and playing with a Pasdar beard, and Klose wearing Bayern red. ( ALL FOOTIE FANS RIGHT THIS WAY LOTS OF GOODIES AHEAD )
And, we end as we began, with a meme. This time, gacked from

26 May 2007 22:55Some weekend whee:
I’ve started working on some new banners for my user info. Here’s the soccer one:

And some thoughts:

There’s also Juan Roman Riquelme from Boca Juniors flying across the middle and Vicente Sanchez in red representing Toluca. And Diego looking pretty. And Franck being tough. And Mia Hamm representing the femmes. But really, I’m thinking of putting “footfanfrenzy” in the empty space next to Shunsuke Nakamura (the guy in green and white). Would it work?
Okay, some soccer links:
Ribery to Bayern. Aww, I wanted him at Arsenal…oh well.
And hey,
rebelstrike21, look! Chelsea will play Mexican giants Club America on July 14 at Stanford University. Hey, if I’m cruising around the Peninsula and I run into Jose Mourinho or Ashley Cole, it will be weird. I’ll probably never bump into the cooler Blues.
I’m surprised that so few people responded to this post in

One-eyed Russian Mikhail made a big boom on last night's Lost finale and today Meg is playing a one-eyed prostitute in the "Icky Thump" video. Too early to declare that cyclops are having the best week ever?
Which leads us to…music!
The Icky Thump video. Also, The making of icky thump…, a cute attempt at comedy from the White/Raconteurs.
20 of the Worst Band Photos
39 songs in 5 minutes mix
Mackenzie Crook, Natalie Portman, and a mandolin can all be found in Paul McCartney’s new video, directed by Michel Gondry.
Timbaland + The Hives + WWE women wrestlers + noir comic book visuals = Throw It On Me.
Lily Allen interview. Yay she’s feeling better. And check out her impressions of Fergie and Lindsay Lohan- spot on.
Adult Swim’s Warm and Scratchy mix lets you download songs by TV on the Radio, The Raveonettes, The Good, The Bad and The Queen, Broken Social Scene, The Rapture, and more. I just had to download “Canada vs.. America.”
L‘Arc-en-ciel‘s “Seventh Heaven” is just okay, but I like the colors in the video. Also: Hyde is 40?
Finally, quick fun band bio generator.
( Check out the bands I created! )
Late Star Wars celebration post, along with tv, Cannes, Heroes, and more, to come.

16 April 2007 02:39Oh my gosh. It feels like an alien (the small Flood creature from Halo, to be precise) is squeezing out my brains out the back of my head. Had to take Nyquil just to sleep Friday. Strange thing is, if I’m really absorbed in something -like say, taping an interview for a project or playing Guitar Hero- then my coughage goes down dramatically. Falling asleep or reading, that’s another matter. I’ll just post some happy things for now.
Werder won their UEFA cup game 4-1! Scorers: Tim (yay!), Diego (double yay!), and, after quite some time…MIRO! SCORED TWO! HE FLIPPED! HE FLIPPED! Waaahooo! Found some good video of the goals here.
ETA: Hey, look! Miro and Diego lead Bremen to 2-0 Bundesliga win!
Oh, and if you have any knowledge of Lost AND Battlestar Galactica, you must check out this shirt. It all makes sense!
Ok me sleep now bye bye.

Yesterday was the birthday of three very pretty people: Jensen Ackles, my Bremen Brazilian Diego Ribas da Cunha (see icon), and, prettiest and greatest of all,
5upamofo. Hope you all had a great day.
I shall save memes for a future post, because constant memage can get annoying.
Hee, I didn’t feel the 4.2 quake that everyone else seems to have felt around 8:40 PM last night. Hmm.
Sunday: Oscar night. It was alright, Ellen was alright, the show a bit long but whatever. Just some pic links from

Hee Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna together.
When presenting the award, something about Gael’s nice voice cracked me up. Maybe because he was cracking up. haha
James McAvoy looks lost
Cate was great
and Rachel Weisz was another stunner in silver.
Related anectdote: About a month ago, at the library, I picked up a DeVotchKa album, recalling a mention of them in an article about gypsy-influenced rock. I stored some of their songs in my computer. When I was watching the Oscars, it was weird hearing one of their songs -“The Enemy Guns,” specifically- play whenever they mentioned Little Miss Sunshine. And then I remembered- that was the reason why they were in the article! The song was in the movie! And I had totally forgotten! Anyways, cool song.
Monday: HEROES!!!
Overall feeling of waaah noooo sooo sadd, though some seconds felt a bit off to me for some reason. Heroes does better flashback hair than Lost, though. No time for in-depth reaction. Just two questions: wasn’t New Girl (Missy Peregrym, all I know is that she’s playing a “temptress” here) totally checking out HRG? Aaack no. HRG ain’t like that, yo. Oh, and is Daddy Nakamura hiding Hiro like HRG hid Claire?

Super cute short preview with Nathan and Hiro. And aww Zachary Quinto (Sylar) is so cute in this interview. Look how he sits! His slight bashfulness! Hee.
I saw a guy who was like the Mylar lovechild. Seriously, he was like a lighter Mohinder with a baseball cap and some of the lines of Sylar's features. I had to stop myself from giggling.
Ooh, and interesting Greg Grunberg (Matt) interview by the AV Club.
Wednesday: Lost! This week’s episode started out kind of warmed over and tiring, but it gradually won me over. Hee beer bonding and Bus Boy Run! We so needed some hope, Charlie needed some hope, and I needed hope for the paper I had to finish that night (stayed up till four doing it ‘cus I napped too long earlier).
Nice little article about upcoming episodes with a fantabulous picture of Charlie, Hurley, Claire, and Sayid (in a very shiny leather jacket, no less).
Thursday: Oh my gosh I got to talk with or at least run into so many of my friends today. And when I got a strawberry crepe at the Crepes A Gogo on University (the bigger one), the French guy at the counter called me “mademoiselle.” hee. He was really nice to everyone, which was cool. Oh, and my brother made me watch the rerun of The Black Donnellys, which is interesting. Sheesh, five beatdowns in one episode.

Good Omens: The Perfumes!
Sweeney Todd starts shooting
I am a sunbaby!
Yesterday was so beautiful outside. Even at 8:30 AM on BART it was so sunny . Between classes I wandered about the campus, eating lunch on a bench by Sproul, soaking in the sun while shielding the chocolate in my purse with shade. It was right next to Strawberry Creek, so if I wanted a break from the heat I could just turn my head and get a cool breeze off the water. Ah.
I spotted Liliana, talked to her for a bit. Then I walked into one of the many small forests and just sat on a bench, looking at nature while eating chocolate. Really good chocolate too- a Verona 85% bar that I bought on Valentine’s Day. It’s both bitter and smooth. It’s sitting right next to me here. I think I’ll take another piece.
Okay, back from my chocolate break. (Actually, I’m typing with one hand, holding the chocolate up to my mouth with the other. Oh well.) So I walked around a little more, sat by the sundial next to the Campanile. Wrote two poems. Smiled at the little kids running around. Went into the library, and found some little blue insect skittering on my neck. My good mood made me only flick the insect away, instead of squishing it like usual. Online, I surfed along to Myspace songs by The Cassettes, Honeycut, and The Fratellis. Good mood continued through my next class.
When going home, I was finally able to spot Angel Island and even Alcatraz from the train. And SF was really clear. The lakes before Fremont station just rippled with sunlight. At home, I just crawled onto on my bed, wanting to nap in the afternoon light.
Gaah, I’m a romantic.
There are only two things I am consistently excellent at. Those things are:
1) wandering aimlessly
2) making pretty AND effective Powerpoint presentations.
Now, on to other things.
Scientists find lakes under Antarctica
On the DW-TV Journal yesterday, I saw a short clip of Diego speaking German. I’ve never heard German spoken with a Brazilian accent before. Yay Diego. Oh, and my dad said that the German deli here is run by a person from Bremen. He told her that I like the team, but got a few details confused. I hope I can meet her now, clear a few things up, ask about the place or chat or something.
Footie-related tangent: Arsenal meets the Queen. Hee, Cesc doesn’t know how to hold a teacup.
And Arsenal’s playing PSV on Tuesday. I will so be in the Bear’s Lair that day. Aww, I like some of the PSV players. But I’m still rooting for Arsenal. Waah, we tied today.
( some more Lost and Heroes thoughts )
TV pattern of the week: Forced yet still funny comedy. Everybody Hates Chris was trying a bit too hard on Monday, yet I still got a few laughs, and Orlando Jones was a surprising good guest star. Knights of Prosperity (must…resist…typing… “Cydonia”…) went a bit overboard with the whole Columbian accent and drug lord thing, yet it still stuck to its sweetfunny core, so it wasn’t too disappointing. The best parts were Rico’s bodyguards (the receipt thing was hilarious) and Gary playing with the light-up menorah. And, then, there was Supernatural.
( Tall Tales )
Oh, and Smallville was ( more or less okay too. ) If Heroes has my brain, then Lost has my heart. And Supernatural…Supernatural has my fannish feet. For jumping. When things get scary. Or funny. Or just plain cool.
I saw Slither. Fun and twisted, though nothing can touch the blood-soaked lawn gnome zombie mastery of Peter Jackson’s Evil Dead.
Let’s end with a TV meme from
readywreadywrit:
I changed the rules a bit, and added a few shows to the list:
Underline = seen one or two episodes, or bits of various ones
Italic = more or less follow, or catching up, on TV or DVD, caught but dropped, etc.
Bold = watched since the first episode, finished, or a show you’re just totally obsessed with now
( the list of shows )

So I walked around a little more, sat by the sundial next to the Campanile.

I changed the rules a bit, and added a few shows to the list:
Underline = seen one or two episodes, or bits of various ones
Italic = more or less follow, or catching up, on TV or DVD, caught but dropped, etc.
Bold = watched since the first episode, finished, or a show you’re just totally obsessed with now

First, a very happy belated birthday to

I feel sorry for the guy who got robbed twice in one shift, but…I couldn’t help but laugh at him as well. Bad bad ninja.
Gnarls Barkley is hosting a haiku contest. “The poem can be based on the following themes: Solitude, Pineapple, or some mixture of both.”
Bit of the Premiere interview with the very cool Cillian Murphy. I was actually skimming through that issue, but I didn’t notice him until I rechecked it later. Probably because he had facial hair in the magazine picture, and Cillian + beard = aack. But now I must read that article.
Found cool facts on his IMDB page a while back.
For example: He plays (drums, I've heard) in a Frank Zappa-influenced band called 'Sons of Mr. Greengenes'.
( Cool cat Cillian is. )
Side note: While Cillian will only return as The Scarecrow in the Batman movie to be made after The Dark Knight, Katie Holmes will not return at all! Rumors say Maggie Gyllenhaal will replace Holmes as Rachel Dawes.
Thursday night TV:
Smallville - The unwelcome return of Lanaville, which was totally made up for by the Clexy invite scene. -me dead from slash-
Supernatural was pretty good, if too quiet. Something about the pace was too slow and quiet for this show. But there were some great scenes, and Demon!Sam was very interesting.
I just watched The Descent and that movie made me scared and sad at the same time. When the cave monsters started jumping on the protagonist, I screamed "Get off her!" and then burst into tears. Maybe my cold was partly to blame. Anyways, the movie inspired me to get some screen caps and make some icons, including my new bloody scream default icon.
Check out my new rotation of icons here! I’m still keeping Peter Lorre and the TheoRobin Arsenal one for now.
( various soccer thoughts )
I was cruising the net for info on Heroes, and I found out that Jimmy Jean Louis, who plays the Haitian, is really from Haiti. He used to work as a model and dancer…which is kind of funny, considering the character he plays now
Via the TWOP forums: This article makes me just angry.
It starts out with the idea that shows like Lost or Heroes that deal with the supernatural are a sign (though exactly not a cause) of social decline. ( Which is interesting. A strange but interesting topic. )
